He was born in Masardis, Aug. Carl spent his childhood living and working, first in Masardis, then in Oxbow, where he met and married Rita Junkins. Carl was a registered Maine guide and continued to guide sportsmen throughout his life, most recently for The Oxbow Lodge and The Homestead Lodge of Oxbow.
Carl served with the U. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. Upon his return from military service, he worked for the Great Northern Paper Co. Together, MMaine and Rita raised five children.
Carl worked hard, but also played hard. He was most at home in the outdoors, enjoying time at The River Camp with family and friends, his month at hunting camp, fishing, snowmobiling, or just riding in the woods. He was a fine canoe man and knew the Aroostook River like the back of his hand.
In addition to his devoted wife, Rita Junkins Sherman of Oxbow, he is survived, Oxbkw, and respected by his five children and their families: Carl particularly treasured his many friends old and new.
He will be remembered by all who knew him for his loyalty, love of the outdoors, strong work ethic and quick sense of humor.
